Hi, and welcome to our practice. Let me introduce myself. My name is Dr. Gulbadan Kaur Randhawa, the newest addition to Dr. Viana's team. I am originally from Southwestern Ontario, specifically the Windsor area, where I spent many happy years with my family consisting of myself, my parents, an older sister and younger brother.

In 2000, I received my Honours BSc with a major in Biology and a minor in Chemistry from the University of Windsor, and then continued on to complete my Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 2004 from the University of Western Ontario. (Yes, from our very own mustangs.)

After graduating from dental school in 2004, I moved out west to British Columbia, where I practiced for 4 years, and then Washington state for 1 year. Moving out west was an exciting and welcome change, where I picked up my passion for kayaking, dragon boating, hiking, biking and snowshoeing. However after 5 years away from home, I realized that home is where the heart is, and I am glad to be back in London, ON.

You may be wondering what made me interested in dentistry and helped me pick this career. Originally, I always thought I would become a lawyer, but after undergoing extensive orthodontic treatment (braces) and orthognathic surgery (jaw surgery) to correct severely crowded and misaligned teeth, I realized what an impact dentistry had made in my life, and decided to help others realize how life changing it can be as well. Dentistry allowed me to achieve self confidence, and to open up doors and pursue opportunities that I might otherwise not have.

I have found dentistry to be both a fulfilling and challenging career. Some of my greatest joy comes from being able to help patients who are fearful of the dentist, or embarrassed of their smile, (often times both), to overcome what is holding them back, and live their lives to the fullest. The way I approach dentistry and life is, you can't change what has happened in the past, so simply look to the future and how you can make the most of what you have. The first and biggest step you can take is to come to our office and start on the road to better dental health and a better life, and know that we will support you every step of the way.

Another source of great happiness in my life is children. Although not blessed with children of my own, I have a niece and nephew whom I absolutely adore. I love seeing children leaving the office smiling, and eager to come back. It is so rewarding to work with children, and to see them having a positive visit, which will set them up for excellent oral health for years to come. If you have a child who is fearful, know that with the help of our team, I will help to create a warm and nurturing environment for your precious one, making him/her feel welcome and comfortable.

My dental philosophy is definitely an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of treatment. I fully advocate sports guards for both children and adults, as I saw a lot of preventable dental trauma in BC. I am also a firm believer in regular dental checkups and hygiene. My goal is that once we have addressed all your dental concerns and achieved the best health and beauty possible, to help you maintain that same level of excellence for the rest of your life.

As dentistry is an every changing field, I am always taking continuing education courses to enhance my knowledge and provide you with the best care possible. If there is anything that you have questions about or are simply interested in, please don't hesitate to ask. I love sharing my knowledge with those around me. And if I don't know the answer, I would love the opportunity to find out.

Thank you for taking the time to let me share a little bit about me with you. I can't wait to meet you and your family, and make them a part of our family. Until then, happy brushing.
